I have a 95 GMC sonoma and i went to start it the other day and it was turning over but didnt fire up. so i drove my girls car to work and then came back home to check it out again and it started up perfectly!! i turned it off and did it again 5 more times and it started up like nothing was wrong. so i left it alone until the next morning. i went to start it again and it was turning over like it was previously but it sounded like it was trying to start up all the way but never would. just chugged and hiccuped until i let off the key. anyone have any suggestions?

1 tune up...GM engines eat up caps/rotors
2 original wires??? after 6 to 8 yrs wires absorbs moisture causing shorts... may b y it doesn't go in AM
3 throw in can of injector cleaner for laughs

This is for the 4.3 liter CPI engine. The TBI psi values would be much lower.

You have a bad fuel pump. Test with a fuel pressure gauge. You are looking for about 54 psi to 58 psi at the fuel rail. Test at idle should be solid at around 58 psi. Try wide open throttle, psi should go up then be pulled down by vacuum. Finally, turn off key, and see if fuel pressure holds. If not replace FP.
