I have a noise that I'm 90% convinced is the flexplate (loose/cracked). Replacing this would be the biggest job I've undertaken. Found a post for accessing and replacing the flexplate but for a much older GMC truck and allows for detaching the tranny from the drive axle and basically moving it back a couple of inches. I don't think I can include the URL in this post but I can share it if it makes sense. Point is, I'm not convinced I know exactly how to access the flexplate/torque converter assembly as I have yet to find a diagram specific to this kind of a job. The conclusion I've come to so far is that the tranny can be loosened from under the vehicle, detached from the drive axle, and that moving the tranny back a bit, I'll find the flexplate/converter assembly within the bell housing. From there I'm pretty much blind, I don't know what will happen when I begin moving the tranny back and I don't know what access I'll really have. Will there be enough play at the back end or will there be enough verticle movement of the tranny to move it back far enough (i.e. the space in the yoke after U joint removal will give me a couple of inches or so). I'm much obliged for any who will give this consideration.
