96 gmc jimmy how to disengage from 2hi

hello i have a 96 gmc jimmy, it is currently in 2hi it will go to 4lo and 4 hi
is there another gear such as a regular 2w not 2hi

basically my question is should it drive in 2hi or not
should i have 2hi light on dash
i dont want to drive in 2hi i want to drive in regular 2 wheel drive

I would say no, its just 2Hi. Over the 16 years its been in our family we never seen that. I believe 2Hi is regular 2 wheel drive. I also don't know about the light, since we do use the 4WD quite often I always push 2hi before going on the road. Ive driven in 2hi for long as i can remember with no issues. Sometimes the light is on sometimes it is not.
