Hello to all, I am a newbie. I'm on here now because I had a issue today, with my trans (4l60e). I pulled out hit the gas a little, the tires broke loose. After the 1-2 shift, I heard a noise (not clunk or clank or anything harsh sounding), it was best described as a turbo pop-off valve or pressure relief valve. Then whining noise and possible limp mode. Now revving higher and then have to let off accelerator to shift. That said, I'm leaning towards not being internal damage. I think more of a electrical/pressure issue. So let me describe what was done fairly recent. I recently added a typical trans cooler, and a pan with a drain plug. While replacing the filter, I checked the solenoids/sensors and found that two solenoids were fairly sloppy. I pulled them and replaced the worn out O-rings with the closest I had on hand, afterwards they were snug fitting. I have driven the truck a few times normal driving. After the incident today, I suspected a failed or improper o-ring. I pulled the pan and checked them again, and found one had play again, the other is still snug. So I replaced the o-ring again. Reinstalled. Now prior to a test drive, I found out no reverse (didn't check reverse beforehand so idk). It has started snowing now which is why no test drive (no reverse). I plan to pull it and recheck/replace a solenoid. I was hoping someone could drop some knowledge on me. Also, out of curiosity, should I disconnect the battery in case it's still in a limp mode. That is hypothetical, also, saying that the problem is corrected.
ps. No metal or anything in the pan. Fluid was red as when put in. Thanks
