96 jummy brake light

I have recently traded a guy for my 96 jimmy he said he replaced the pads on the truck they seemed fine at first but now it seems I have to apply a good amount of pressure to stop the vehicle also when I was drivinig over some train tracks I hit them hard and shook the vehicle up pretty bad, the emergency break light came on and has stayed on ever since. I'm looking for info on how to fix the brake light issue as well as the brakes but wanted some input before I started on the brakes.....

Brake light one, check the brake fluid level and the brake lines to your front calipers might me leaking. if it's not the brake line, then it's going to be the brake calipers.

Great job, since the weather is still great out side, replace your fuel line along the frame on the driver's side. There will be three lines there, two for fuel and one for the evap canister in the back of the jimmy. It's common for the lines to corrode where the nylon clips hold the line to the frame.

I replaced mine with nylon fuel lines to ensure no more corrosion issues. Here is a link to where i got the nylon fuel line i used. http://ken-co.com/fmsi/fmsi.htm

Thanks for the info and help I will keep you posted on my progress.....guy at the shop told me that I had a hole in the boot of my front axel...said better to replace the whole axel. Good idea or should I save time and money and just replace the boot? "dirt is getting in and grease is getting out" said the guy at the shop.

Since your Jimmy is a 96, it's your decision to how how you want to addressed this issue. I personally would replace both sides since they have traveled the same distance and i turned my jimmy in to a all wheel drive.

Your jimmy runs on rear wheel drive till you hit the 4wd button. In your case i would just save the money and repack the CV joint and replace the boot. There is no crazy wild noises doming from the CV joints when you make tight turns to the right or left. If there is, then your going to have to replace the CV joints.

brakes fixed!

I replaced in full the rear drums shoes brake lines, and brake cylinders...I bled the rear brakes had good pressure then I took it for a test drive the brakelight on the dash would turn off after I pumped the brakes several times, and to stop the truck I had to smash the brake pedal and it would slow to a stop....after all the work I was frustrated and took it too my gf's dads shop and 300$ later I learned it was a master cylinder brake booster the part itself cost about 100$..However this booster was the culprit to my engine trouble so even though I had to take it in which I hate doing because I don't get to learn and it costs much more money the problem was solved and now I can bypass my fuel line replacement and work on my front axel boots and my 4x4 problem....
