Hey everyone I have a 96 gmc k1500 4x4 extended cab with the 5.7 and Iam getting ready to do a little work to it the only catch is iam on a budget i have 1200 to spend on it. so far i got the exhaust from the headers back pretty much figured out but I was just looking for some more suggestions to get a some more hp and the most bang for my buck. Someone said some aftermarket rocker arms, under drive pullys, and a programmer is what I should look at but I dont know much about them. Any advice or suggestions would be appericiated thank you.

AEM has an air intake kit that will give you near 10 horses extra
and around 8-10 ft/lb. Comes with throttle body spacer and gaskets,
Intake plumbing, a high flow washable filter and a heat shield for filter.
Good deal I think. I want one for mine.

Also look into a chip for easy horses. Or a tuner for your Vortec.
Headers, true dual exhaust with a crossover, and high flow turbo
type or cherry bomb type also help power output. Under drive pullies
can net a few ponies but usually not noticeable gain, 1-2 maybe.

When you start messing with airflow in and
out of an engine you must added more fuel.
Injection mapping is very lean stock to meet emissions standards.
When you add more air, this can cause an EXTREMELY lean condition.
Sometimes resulting in melted piston domes under strenuous driving. To correct this, added bigger injectors and or a fee more psi of pressure with a new hi flow fuel pump
and adjustable pressure regulator.

Hope I helped you to figure out how to blast through $1200 bucks.
