96 motor in 95 truck-rough idle

put a 1996 2.2 4cyl. in my 1995 sonoma. has ROUGH idle and check engine light. code says cam position sensor which truck doesn't use. replaced crank sensor and everything i could think of. been messing with this for over a year and i'm lost. 2 mechanics have told me to come get truck off their lot. is this motor swap even compatible?

You might want to check all your vacumm hoses. I'm having same problems and I am looking for vacumm diagram.

Also did you replace ecm? the only year for that model truck was 96 and 97 with cam and crank sensor. Also you can use the 98 and earlier engine block w/ 96/97 head.

thanks for the reply. I changed the ecm and tracked all of the vacaum hoses. Local salvage says 96 to 95 engine swap won't work so i'm rebuilding the 95 and putting the 96 head on it. Haven't gone to far if someone has better solution.

Using a 95 block won't work with the 96 head. 96/97 will with a 98 and above block.
