OK...so I just replaced the transmission on this 97 Jimmy. I went through the floor to get at one of the bolts just behind the gas pedal. In the process I damaged the wire harness that runs to the plugs on the drivers side of the tranny where the shift cable hooks up. I know..."DUMB @ss!!" I hooked the wires back together after the trans was removed. Only thing is, there were 2 yellow, 2 pink, and 2 green that had no distinguishing markings. I had a 50/50 shot. I got the trans back in and now the key is stuck in the ignition and it won't shift. I have power to the windows and the gauges work when I turn the key. Looking at the wires going to the shifter, there is a green and a yellow. So I guess I was on the losing end of the 50/50 shot. What I did is first swapped the greens with no results. Switched the greens back and switched the yellows with no results also. So I then switched the greens again (last option) and still have nothing. I've read similar symptoms pointing to the ignition switch. But not sure if this is it since I seem to have more things powered then the other posts.
So is anyone as dumb as me? Can anyone help?

At this point your better off replacing the wire harness and to ensure your not going to have any other tissues in the future and check the fuse to your transmission. At worst case, you cooked your TCM in your PCM. TCM = transmission control module for your 4L60e transmission.

Next time you swap out the transmission, remove the transmission cross member and tilt the transmission and engine back to get to the 2 top bolts with long extension and a swivel. ;)

Good luck and keep us posted.

Yeah...I actually was able to get the top two bolts with a swivel and a long extension. The one I had problems with was on the drivers side. It's the one that is next in line counter-clockwise from the top one. I only had about half an inch of clearance.
Thanks for the reply!
