Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I have a 97 Suburban 4x4 7.4liter auto with only 35K miles and just a few days ago when I started the beast a loud rattle like noise was coming from trans or transfer case area. I went under immedaitely and put my hand on the trans pan and didn't feel much vibrations. Put my hand on the transfer case and vibrations were more eveident.
It sounds like a few golf balls rolling around the tranny though. OH, like a pair of shoes in the dryer!
I HAD to drive it to an appointment and it drove fine shifted normal, the noise was the same in all gears and speeds. I have yet to test the 4WD so stay tuned for that.
I'm going to change trans fluid and filter and go from there.
Anyone else have any other ideas? Things to check?
