I have a 98 sonoma that will start up for a few seconds then it dies i can here the fuel pump running i have changed the fuel filiter and cleanded the injectors wich were very dirty you can keed truck running with starting fluid. a little more info the guy before me started changing interior so there is no dash and he tried to install a pass 2 to bypass a switched key but it does the same either with or with out it.

Check your oil pressure sensor and it's wire leads. The engine will shut down after 05 seconds if its less then 8 PSI of oil pressure. Also check to see what your fuel pressure reading is at the shredder valve, you should have 62-65 PSI when starting and will drop about 5 PSI when the engine is running.
The fuel pump is controlled by the ECM via through the fuel pump relay which i believe is in your fuse/relay center in the engine compartment.
