98 third door handle failure

1998 Sonoma 4X4 Ext. cab with third door. This plastic handle has snapped about five times over the years. Had a good run going until my neighbor decided to open it...... I heard the noise that makes me cringe, SNAP !! Any advice? I have adjusted it several times, these plastic handles are expensive.

Go to ebay type in s10 third door handle.
There are metal handles and metal handles in assemblies.
They don't break...
I got one.
