Hello. I've got a 95 jimmy. 4.3L. The a/c worked last summer until the last day i used it when the weather temp dropped. Its hot again. I turn on the a/c, but the compressor won't come on. So i assume the freon is low. I then went to the parts store to get a R134 can. Turned the a/c on high max as i filled it. Few seconds later, the compressor kicked on. Heres where the issue lies. It wont stay on. It keeps coming on & going off. 2secs on & 2secs off. Doesnt miss a beat. Meanwhile, the guage needle on the can goes back n forth from low to full as the comp clicks on & off. Anyone have any idea what i need to replace? If its of any consequence, the accumulator got covered up with ice the last couple of weeks i used the a/c last year. Thx.

well sounds like it still low. it will tell you under the hood how much freon it holds (buy the freon with the die in it So when it leaks out you can find it with a ultra violet light)
usally take 2 pounds or so so 1 can will not be enought. After using another can and still have a problem take it to a local repair shop.(not vip or a chain shop) Good luck

One more thing: I found a leak at the schrader valve. Takes 2 seconds to replace it, i know. Problem is its already filled with refrig. Replacing the valve will lose all of it. I'm thinking i'll just wait till the freon is gone again b4 replacing it. Any thoughts?
Did you try tightening the schrader?
Not yet. Not with a wrench anyway... I'll try that and post back.
