I've had it for only a month.it had a tranny leak, fixed.there's both an oil and antifreeze leak.oil leak's prob from pan? coolant leak isnt coming from the front area (radiator or stat).I could lay down underneath the truck and literally watch it drip down next to me from above, but from where? leak's coming right up above the starter area.not a whole lot of room or explore with my eyes or my hands.is there a hose not on tight enough? someone told me yest there's a safety plug that came undone due to wrong amount of coolant/antifreeze being in there (not from me) and only way to fix it is to tap it out or being entire engine out and push it out.i'm familiar with fords only.GMC's new to me,but im catching on quickly.

doesn't matter if i fill the rad up,within a few days its half full again. Not sure where oil leaks coming from either.

little bit of help here.

Both antifreeze and oil can leak from the lower intake manifold gasket. Some GM engines have had serious problems with the plastic gaskets they used, and dealers typically get about $800 to replace the gasket. The 3.1 liter V-6 in my lady friend's car had a leaking lower intake manifold gasket. I removed the upper intake manifold ( just flows air, with no oil or coolant passages ) , and then tightened the lower manifold bolts. That stopped the leaks, and cost me zero dollars, and a day's work. A year later, there were still no leaks.

first of all ty fr replying back to my request there bill.second,is there a vi to better explain your info? I've done aot of vehicle work myself.som things im not familiar with, yet.i dropped the starter bc the leak was def dripping straight from behind it.the freeze seal was good to go,no holes,or drips from it.freeze seal on other side def good too.

only spots that have coolant residue (not drippings or spraying) is either the gasket from the intake right below the thermostat (its not coming from the stat) and the volley ball sized plate right between the water pump and block.

I tell ya this is a weird one to solve.ive looked, looked and relooked many times and still can not locate where the coolant leak is coming out at.

last year I had a pin hole (no bigger than that) leak from my ford.it sprayed everywhere under the hood.no spraying anywhere under the gmc.its def dripping from behind the starter area.unless its leaking from the very bottom of that plate that sits in between the pump and block, traveling on back, right down past the starter?

Dripper, you have understand that forums work like this; if you don't know the answer to the question, you supply them with similar or related information that you do know.
That's called " talking around the issue" without actually answering it ! But, in the process, you may discover that you were asking the wrong question !
