Electrical problem
1996 GMC Sonoma 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 156000 miles

I recently got the trouble code P1361 GMC: Ignition Coil Control Circuit Low Voltage. I was wondering if changing the ignition coil/battery/dist.cap would fix the problem?

It could, but there was a TSB for tech's at the dealer to inspect the ICM and wire leads in the distributor. The breather screen at the bottom of the distributor would get dirty not letting the distributor to breathe and condensation would form in the distributor promoting corrosion. Inspect your wire leads to your ICM in the distributor and clean any corrosion found, if all is good, then test the wires for proper voltage.

Here is a link that should help you test for your P1361 codes.

Good luck and keep us posted. :D
