I know they are General Motors and all..cutting corners and so forth, but a jimmy or blazer is the perfect size for what I need it for.

I can get a used one pretty cheap and I want to know if I am going to be repairing it every 5 minutes.

yes they are as long as you maintain it and drive it right, my best friend had an 01 GMC Jimmy 4x4 with the 4.3 L V6 and it was reliable, the 4.3L V6 is basically a V8 5.7L 350 with 2 cylinders chopped off so its good power for such a small and light truck/suv, but his was 2 door and it was hell for someone to try to get in the back seat so if you plan on having people in the back seat more than once in a blue moon then get the 4 door version

yes 4.3 engine 6 cylinder man my dad ownsa one there reliable like a bitch trust me i sware these trucks are soo reliable it never shut down once my dad had his jimmy for 6 years never took it to a garagage once his blazer ( 92 ) for 14 years had to take to garage 5 times in 14 years

No they are not...not even a little. The other two posters had quite a bit of luck if they haven't had significant problems. According to Consumer reports, the leading industry watchdog, Jimmys/Blazers have below average reliability in nearly every important category (transmission, drive system, fuel system, electrical system, climate system, brakes, etc). the engine is about the only part of the vehicle that has been at least somewhat reliable. They are listed as one of the top used vehicles to AVOID.
