Automatic headlight problem

Now that I'm on a roll, I also have been having ongoing issues with the automatic headlights. Over the last couple years they periodically do not shut off. I have to pull the fuse to turn them off since there is no manual off switch (which is inconceivable). Sometimes they will go off after a few minutes, sometime they will not go off at all, and other times they work normally. I have not been able to get any help on the GMC 800 number line, it's very frustrating. I believe that if you take any GMC vehicle from 80-100 years ago not one had a problem with not being able to turn off the lights. We should be progressing, not regressing. But I digress. Any idea what the problem may be? Thanks

No idea what the problem could be, but you should be able to shut the lights off by turning the knob to the left, it is a momentary position that also turns off the DRL's. In the alternative, you should be able to turn the lights on manually to the right and then back to the auto position and that should shut them off. Of course if there is a short somewhere these options for shutting them off in that case may not work. Now that I read your other post and see that this is on an Envoy, I'm not sure what your headlight switch is like. Sorry.

Thank you for your response mogleybear, the knob you describe sounds like mine, however I tried to use it as the manual describes but it didn't work. Never thought about a short though.
The Envoy is a 2005 Denali.

2006 Envoy Headlights Stay On

I have the same issue that others have been complaining about with my headlights staying on after 5 minutes of the engine being turned off and doors locked.
Is there some type of manufacturer's defect with the Headlamp Driver Module Relay?

My issue is the opposite at light my headlights will not come on, daytime fine high beams work but at light they will not work at all, took it off auto still nothing
