2012 GMC Sierra SLE
Has anyone had this experience and knows the cause and how to fix.
When I apply the brake, everything is fine. The truck brakes and stops as expected. When I release the brake, I hear a squeak that comes from the back wheels. This happens when I am moving and I brake or if I am stopped and pump the brake. <press - release - squeak>
If I set the parking brake and try this test, releasing the brake does not result in a squeak. <set parking brake - press - release - no squeak>
If I set the parking brake and then release the parking brake, I hear the same squeak. <set parking brake - release parking brake - squeak>
These symptoms seem to indicate something that is related to the parking brake. Note that this year GMC Sierra has drum brakes and I am thinking the brake hardware inside the drum is squeaking.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of this squeak?
Thanks in advance.
