From time to time my 97 GMC Sierra 1500 turns up with a dead battery. The drain happens when it is parked with the key off. A friend suggested it may be related to using the air conditioning and/or defrosters, since using defrosters triggers the a/c.
Under normal conditions, when I engage defrosters, I can hear the a/c click on and when I turn off defrosters I can hear it click off.
So I began paying attention and sure enough, sometimes when I turn off the defrosters, I cannot hear the clilck that signals the a/c shutting off.
I think the fact that it doesn't click off means something is still engaged and that may be what is killing the battery.
Any suggestions on where to go from here?
