Bed caps, please help

Hi i have a 2000 gmc sierra stepside, i am thinking of removing the bed caps for a cleaner look, i cannot tell without removing them what it looks like under it, if it is cut all the way down the rail, becuase of the two rectangular mounting holes on each corner of the bed, or if there is a lip all the way down, or if it is just smooth. Thanks for the help
