Bigger tires for 2003 Sonoma

I have a 2003 Sonoma SLS, 4x2 Extended Cab, 4.3L.
It came equipped with the optional P235/55R16 (96T) tires.

I'd like to get a larger tire for a little bit higher ride and maybe even slightly better gas mileage or handling.

Anyone have any experience/suggestions with the tires I have now or going to something bigger?

Bigger tires will not give you better fuel economy or handling, just a higher ride, rougher ride and worse economy. I have a set of 31x10.5x15 on my otherwise stock 02 sonoma crew cab 4x4.

Agreed. Bigger tires will kill your gas mileage. You may have clearance issues as well. The ZR2 came from the factory with 31x10.5-15 and the factory used a fender with a much larger wheel opening for clearance.

But they do look cool.
