Blows smoke after crank up then stops after warmed up and doesn't blow when idling. Any suggestions? Besides blown head gasket I doubt it is that? Valve guide lines???

Hello Mikemane91,

I am sorry to hear that your GMC vehicle is blowing blue smoke on a cold start. Have you had a chance to have a GMC dealership look into this yet? If not, I would be more than happy to assist you in setting up an appointment. Please feel free to private message me with your name, contact info, VIN, mileage, and dealership you would like to work with. I hope to hear back from you soon.

Valve guides.

Chance are the one puff of blue smoke is valve guides. They wear, Then as the engine sits, oil seeps past them into the cylinder. You dont mention the year or mileage. I would guess a valve job would cure this.
