I have a 1997 Jimmie SLT. My brake lights stopped working. Fuses are good, I replaced the brake bulbs, and changed the brake light switch but I still have no brake lights. I have all my other lights.
I have read that a faulty hazard switch can cause the brakes not to work because the power for the brakes run through it. Is this true or is there something else to check.

I believe the high mount stop lamp is seperate from the rear stop lamps. Check the relay for power located at center rear of engine compartment. You may also want to start with replacing bulbs. Your bulbs are double filament which means that they actually have two lights in it.

Does the Top Center light still work?

I have a 2000 Jimmy SLE and I have an issue with the lower two brake lights are not functioning but the Top Center light works just fine.
My turn signals also work.
I found out that the multi-function switch malfunctioned and was recalled.
The multi-function switch is your turn signal switch, hazard switch, and cruse controller on your steering wheel.
I am not sure how to check that. I am currently waiting for my Jimmy which is at the shop to get the recall work completed.
But the symptoms of a faulty multi-function switch is that the lower brake lights do not work but your turn signals will function just fine and also the top center brake light.

I hope my rambling helps.

My 01 jimmy sle needed the entire multifunction switch, not just the hazard, just for the rear lights to work. Bummer deal but it is now working well.
