Hey guys, I have a 96' Jimmy SLT 4x4 with just over 203,000 miles (yep, still running strong!!). Well I pulled away from a stop sign the other day and some lady decided to cut me off, forcing me to slam on the brakes. Well the next stop about 100 yards up the road I noticed significantly less brake pressure and the brake light was on. Considering the mileage and the fact that she has spent most of her life in Cleveland, OH, I'm pretty sure the problem is either a rusted brake line somewhere, a broken booster, or a blown master cylinder. I'm good at working on cars, I've just never worked on the brake lines or master cylinder before, just changed brakes. If theres a leak in a brake line, it should drip out if I'm pumping the brake correct? If I cant find any leaks that way, how do I determine if its the booster or master cylinder? Thanks for any help!!

Check the brake fluid level first and refill if low and inspect for any leaks throughout the brake system but pumping the brake peddle as you mentioned. Common to leak will be the rear cylinder, once you determined there is no leak in the system. Then it's going to be your master cylinder that will need to be replaced, Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help you keep your Jimmy running 100%. I just taped over 358,000 miles on mine LOL.
