It will work, but there is a slight gap between the cover and head light grill. If you get luck, you can use a Envoy bumper cover to give you the fog lights. :D

Yes the 98 bumper cover will give you a gap on the 97 Sonoma. The 97 Sonoma has a grill and headlight assembly.

The 98 < have a three piece front grill system where the middle grill is separate from the two headlights which are lager then the 94 to 97 which is why you get a gap from the 98 bumper cover where the smaller headlights are in your 97.

The mounting tabs are in the same location and bolts right on which is a great thing. No hacking up the swap lol :D

You got it, same bolting tab locations. Best place to pick up bumper covers is at the Salvage yard and make the repairs your self.

In my area the bumper covers here go for $20.00 when you pull it from the Salvage Sonoma and you get to learn how they are held on without doing any damages to your Sonoma if your not sure how they are held on.

i cant find a grill guard for my 97 gmc sonoma can i fabricate a 98 somoma grill guard to fit my 97 gmc sonoma
 
some how I got lost again on bumper cover 97sonoma can i use the 98+cover on my 97 with my 97 grille and do away with 97 valance does that include the envoy cover or am I going to have to use the 98+ grille thanks guys

You can use your 97 grille and the Envoy bumper cover is one unit so you will not need to use the 97 valance. ;)

I cant find a site that sells 98 envoy bumper cover except summit raceing has one on ebay not factory but looks okay
