is it possible to camm a engine from a 94 jimmy, with out messing with the computer or rockers or push rods. i want to pull my engine out to clean and put new gaskets on the engine and fix a few leaks, and wondering while it was out i could put a diferent camm in it with out any problems. thanks

You can, but the stock program on the ECM will not be able to compensate for the larger cam. As matter of fact, the stock cam in the 4.3 vortec is large and was cut to give you the lower end torque that give the 4.3 pulling power off the start.

The larger the cam will cause you to bring the power band on your mid to top end and your going to suffer on the lower end of your RPM. Also take not that the CFM flow on the heads are limited so your going to have to match the cam with your CFM flow on the vortec heads.

It can be done with a custom chip for your larger cam and a higher stall converter for your transmission.;)

Keep us posted on your project.:D

were and how do I put a performance chip the computer? do I take it out and bring it to a dealership. I'm not going with the bigger cam, it's to much work. hehe. how much gain would I get and how much would it cost. Thanks.
