New here. I have a 98 Z71 with the short box. I have been towing a 4500 pound trailer for 3-4 years but am considering a trip from the west coast of Canada across country and up the Trans Labrador Hwy. and down through the maritimes to Georgia then home again. I'm thinking I don't want to tow.

I've done a search but couldn't find an answer so my question is about a suitable camper, particularly what weight I should consider an upper limit

A Pennies Worth

I think 2000 lbs. is max for a camper. Look on the door for the sticker. Call a dealer with your vin number and they should be able to tell you the max camper weight to haul.

Some food for thought, with a camper in the bed it goes with you every where and could limit access to areas. You could unload it but this is harder than hooking up a trailer IMO. With a trailer you can leave it to explore or sight see. The trailer will be roomier, more water, possibly bigger fridge space and a shower.

Good Luck
