CAn I put a 5.3L in my 4.8L Sierra if they are both 2001 Models?

I want to put a 5.3L motor in my 2001 Sierra 1500 SLE. The curren engine size is 4.8L.....Will the Trannie still mount up to a 5.3L? Any help will be appreciated!

Yes the engine will still mate up with the 4L60E transmission, but your going to have to match the ECM for the 5.3 liter engine. Any reason why your want to install the 5.3 in your sierra???
