I have a 99 jimmy with CA emissions, not federal. i wanted to get a 49 state legal emissions seeing i don't live in CA. i was told that the vehicle would run fine but it would throw a check engine code. I was wondering if this is true and if so what could i do to get it threw emissions. thanks

you need to buy the CA cat becuaes you PCM is calibrated for CA emissions. So if you put a federal one on you will throught a cat effency code and fail inspection.
Most of the time the cats cost is the same. But buyer beware don't buy it on line unless you have done your home work on the company your buying it from.

The 49 state legal looks exactly the same. my dads sierra has fed emissions and the only thing different would have to be the smog pump. his is a 99 4.3 as well. so wouldn't the smog pump change the envision output therefore putting it in the range the ecm is looking for?
