Got a '98 4wd Jimmy with BAD catalytic converter rattle at 174k miles !!
Any suggestions on what brand of replacement Cat Converter to get ??
And where to get a good price on it ??
Live in a town just north-east of Atlanta.

thx, Pops

Make sure it's not just the tin cat cover before spending big bucks. Mine had a rattle and that's what it was. Couple fender washes under the fasteners and it was good to go. Si.

Sounds like the cat?
I would look into the vacuum switch under the battery tray to see if it is working properly. The cable to the front differential may have a problem retracting, vacuum, solenoid, or stretched or rusty cable. Climb under the drivers side and give a closer listening to the front differential.
Sound likes to travel and the cat is a large resonator.

I forgot to mention / Walker Part #15827 - 1998 non California catalytic converter fits 1998 jimmy or any other direct bolt up cat is eligible for a $50.00 rebate until the last day in October 2014. Rock Auto is a good place to start.
You will need 464 31589 & 46431571 Walker - pipe flange gaskets, not included in the box with cat.
Have fun, start with the top nut towards the intake [front] of the cat nearest the heat shield, Knowing this is as bad as it gets! The remainder of the bolts are a cinch if you apply plenty of heat and drown them several times with PB blaster. Try not to cut the studs at the muffler and don't take it down unless you have to. Re use the studs at the muffler if not rusted out. The intake to the cat, studs or nuts If cut, don't matter you will need three bolts, nuts etc. To complete that side.
