Greetings,
My issue is, my mileage has gone from 15 to 10. I have replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I replaced the thermostat, this was not the issue since to old one opened at 195, as it should. I am replacing the sensor to see if my gauge will show the correct temperature.
Searching this forum for this information has yielded me nothing useful. Search ignores 3 letter arguments! How silly since most acronyms are 3 letters! MAF, TPS, IAC, etc.
Okay, I have a 1992 GMC C2500 with a 5.7L. The mass air flow sensor is mounted on the passenger side valve cover. Is this cleanable? It has a plug and a vacuum line to it. MAF's that I have cleaned have been mounted in the intake tube. With type of MAF, you can see the wire and spray MAF cleaner on them. Is this unit cleanable or does it have to be replaced?
After cleaning of the MAF or replacing, does the battery need to be disconnected for 10 minutes?
Thanks,
-Dave
