Today my 2006, 5.3L ran the temp up to 230; it's never gone past 210 since I've owned it. No harsh conditions and the A/C wasn't on. I pulled over and checked and the fans were not running. Let it cool, worked my way home and checked again and still no fans. Let it cool again and then re-started and let it idle for awhile and it settled at about 205-210 with no fans running. Hit the A/C and within 10 seconds the fans came on, temp still at 210. Turned the A/C off and in 30 seconds the fans shut off. Seems they won't come on without the A/C running. Anyone have any ideas what might have happened, like maybe a bad sensor or relay or something.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Start with the simple and check the fuses and swap the two relays for the fan. The fan is controled by the PCM which takes readings from the temprature sensor on the engine block.

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)
