Crossbar over the transmission pan?

I have a 98 GMC Jimmy. Trying to do service on the tranny but there is a large black bar covering the last 3 bolts in the fluid pan. I belive this bar is the crossmember but not sure. If i take the bar out will i need to jack the tranny up or is there a trick to get these last few bolts out?

You need to remove the frame bolts on the Crossmember and the tranny mount bolts under the tailshaft, jack up the trans slightly to take the weight off the crossmember, then slide it back so you can drop the pan. Install is reverse of removal. Suggest installing a drain valve in the pan. Makes it less messy when changing fluid.
