So I went to start my 1999 Sierra 1500 (new style) and I opened the door, the dome light came on, I put the key in the ignition, went to start it and then there was no power. All the lights were off, the truck didnt turn over, nothing. Popped the hood, battery read 12+ V but there was no light or anything, what is the issue?

Sounds like a bad ignition switch that will need to be replaced. You can test this but turning the ignition switch to the on position and checking for 12 volts at your fuse panel terminal. If there are no 12 volts to your accessory, ecm and other fuses like 4wd. Then you have a ignition switch issues.

Good luck and keep us posted.

A similar situation happened to my gf's car, and the problem was that the positive wire was lose from the positive terminal, because the everytime I shook the wire, the dome lights would turn on and off.
