Hi, newbie here!
I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy with some sort of fuel leak. Here's what's going on.
The gas gauge showed 1/4 tank, so, naturally I go to the gas station to fill er' up! It starts filling up for a few mins, and then gas starts pouring out from beneath the car. We think the gas pump had already clicked off..and then the gas poured onto the ground, but we aren't 100% sure. The gas pump showed 11 gallons was put in the car. And now the fuel gauge in the car shows that the tank is beyond "F". I knock on the tank and it doesn't really sound full to me. I believe the tank has a 19 gallon capacity too.
I can see underneath, but cant really tell where the leak is coming from, as the gas evaporates or dries up pretty fast. I believe it is coming from the top of the tank because it was definitely pouring down the side from the top.
Anyone have any ideas? Need more info? What can I look at?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Here are a couple pics...this is the fuel pump right?
