I'm fairly new to this site. I currently run a 1990 GMC Suburban with big plans that will probably never come to fruition. I have a ring & pinion question and wasn't sure where to post it, so here it is.
I am building an off road project with all the leftover parts in my back yard. I have a set of 10 bolt 27 spline axles off of an '84 1/2 ton diesel. They will be getting power from a 3.1L TBI GM engine with a 5 speed trans running through a dual transfer case. I see all over the internet there is a 5.57 ring & pinion available. I want the lowest crawl ratio I can get to compensate for the 3.1L. I know there is only 7 splines on the pinion gear. Is this a bad idea? Is it even possible? I will probably run a 35" or 37" tire when this is complete.
