Absolutely incredible ! General Motors has filed an action with the U.S. Copyright Office , seeking a ruling to make it illegal for GM vehicle owners to repair their own vehicles . The ruling would also affect most independent repair shops as well, and would allow only GM dealers and certain most favored repair shops to repair GM cars. After the taxpayers bailed out GM to the tune of 11.9 billion dollars ( net amount never repaid ), GM has rewarded us with the most blatant unconstitutional violation of our civil rights ever attempted by any US company!
John Deere has joined GM in their efforts to deny us the right to work on our vehicles . GM claims that , due to the complexity of modern cars, " amateur tinkering" with cars constitutes a safety hazard. But an examination of vehicle statistics reveals that GM itself has created nearly all of the safety hazards associated with their modern cars and trucks. Look at the safety investigations ongoing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Look at the issues of rusted brake lines, rusted fuel lines , rusted frames, defective transmissions, defective engines, defective electronics ....the list goes on and on. Look at the recalls and the technical service bulletins issued by GM itself involving safety hazards. Look at the lawsuits against GM for over 90 wrongful deaths attributed to failure of ignition switches. Ironically, GM has filed for immunity from financial liability for the ignition switch suits, claiming the problem started before their last bankruptcy ! I was a GM fan for over 50 years, but I will never buy another GM product again. Tell everyone you know about this, and write to your U.S. senators and representatives , protesting this action by GM.
I advocate an immediate boycott of all General Motors products, so we can either bring them to their senses, or to their knees !
