nothing wrong with drum brakes in the rear of a car or tk.
Drum Brakes
Drum brakes are actually prefered by service personal in the oil patch. When GM first started putting rear disc brakes on truck they caused so many problems when the truck was working off-road that GM was pressured into re-offering drum brakes.

Rear discs on a truck are a maintenance nightmare.
Rust and corrosion being the prime enemy of rear disc brakes.
If you want rear discs you can still get them with this option. There are also standard on the 1500 Denali.
