GMC 3500 sierra Dully no brakes no steering?

Pump could have failed, sheared shaft…Pull the low pressure return line, is there any fluid movement? Prying out on the PS pulley with the serp belt in place will yield the broken steering shaft if there is movement.
If it's the valve, The PS pressure valve is very easy to replace-- remove the high pressure line at the pump- remove the large fitting that go into the pump- there will be a spring and a valve about 3/4 inch diameter and 1 1/4 long. This is the flow pressure valve. The valve is designed to bleed off the pressure through a small internal ball bearing -- after it reaches a set pressure. If debris gets under the ball, it will not build pressure. Common problem with many vehicles.
Good luck and keep us all posted on what you find, be glad to know you got your GM running 100% again soon, and this should cost about $100.00 for the warranty deductible.
2007 GMC Sierra Duramax 2500 no steering no brakes
My wife got in the truck to come home the other day and found no steering and no brakes. I went to pick her up and found it exactly as she described. Had the truck towed to a GMC dealer. They couldn't repeat the problem, but upon their recommendation, I had the "accessories" (hydro boost) pump replaced and I also asked to have the power steering and brake system drained and flushed. Now, my wife doesn't feel safe driving the vehicle because the cause of the problem could not be discovered. I agree with her. I feel that now I'm driving a couple of tons of metal down the road and sometime in the (near?) future, I won't have the ability to steer or stop. Not a good thing!
Even if this were one isolated incident, I would not be able to shake the feeling that at any time, it's going to fail, but I'm seeing on a multitude of forums, that this has happened to many owners, all with no direct cause identified. Honestly, I am think of trading in the truck for something without the mystery concerning the mechanical safety integrity of the thing.
