I am having problems with the fan control switch. It has 4 settings on it, the only one it will blow on is 4. Does anyone know what could cause this problem?
It is either the blower control module or the high blower relay. The resistor or blower control module is located by the blower motor usually. Access it and disconnect it and run through the blower speeds with the ignition on and test the supply voltage to it. If it is all normal, jump it to the motor and see if it spins. If it spins, replace it. If it doesn't, find the relay and do the same checks.
the blower motor resistor connector melted. you need to
replace resistor and connector. connector is available at gm parts dealer. it is a very common problem for gm trucks.
I had similar problems last year. Replaced my resistor. AC worked until a month ago. The blower completely shuts down at different times. The blower is good, checked it out, the resistor is good (bought a new one and did the same thing). I think I have it narrowed down to the control module. The relay is still good, swapped a few in my fuse box and still works. This has been a huge headache since the temps have been over 100 deg for 3 months.
