Hi,

I have come here from time to time in the past for inquiries about my truck, but this is my first post to the forum. This is going to be long winded, and many of my questions have probably been beaten to death already. So, I'll apologize in advance. I'm sorry.

I now have a 2007 GMC Sierra Denali, (2wd, 6.2L GMT900). I bought it new in August of 2007. It's got about 120,000 miles on it now, and I'm considering a newer truck. I've been looking at the 2014's, and the sticker shock has me considering a newer GMT900 Denali pickup instead.

I like the GMT900 series well enough to drive another one, but with that being said, I've had a list of problems with my 2007 that may stop that from happening. When I bought the 2007, it was the first year the Denali was available in the GMT900 line. I knew there would probably be bugs, (being its a first generation), but I just had to have it right then. Throughout the life of the truck, there has been a litany of issues that have re-occurred. Most of them cosmetic, but asinine all the same.

What I am hoping for is feed back from owners of the later model (2010-2013) GMT900 Sierra or Sierra Denali pickups. Are these issues that are still occurring as the product line has matured, or have they been weeded out?

My list goes;
1) Door handles, every door has broken and had to be replaced twice, some three times.
2) Cracked dash board, around 60,000 the dash began to crack above the instrument cluster, (common in the 2007 Yukon's), and is now badly cracked in 3 places.
3) The front air-dam (spoiler below the bumper) has come off. I've replaced it once, and 10,000 miles later it blew off, again...
4) The transmission has always felt like a bucking bronco. At highway speed if I stab the throttle to pass; and then let out quickly, it will will throw a neck breaking down shift and chirp the tires. Its done this since I bought it. 2 separate dealerships have looked at this. One "re-flashed" the "shifter module", and the other replaced the drive shaft yolk. But, this still occurs.
5) Engine rattle, or lifters knocking on cold start. Every time I've started it, since I've bought it, the engine sounds like a sausage grinder for about 10 minutes. It eventually smooths out. There have been numerous other issues, (Catalytic Converter 80,000 miles, A/C compressor 90,000 miles, and master cylinder 100,000 miles), but these may or may not be dismissed by the age and use of the truck.

As with any vehicle there's going to be quirks and bugs that occur. These are just the quirks and bugs I came across. Again, what I am hoping for is feed back from owners of the later model (2010-2013) GMT900 pickups. Are these issues that are still occurring as the product line has matured, or have they been weeded out? If you own a GMT900 Sierra or Sierra Denali, I would love to know if you have had any similar problems, or any that I haven't seen yet in my current year model.

Thanks for reading....

No.

No, but I have the 6-speed. Not sure if yours in 4 or 6

No. I run Amsoil exclusively.

I only have 44,000 miles on my 2010.

Mine is a 2010 Sierra Denali GMT900 with 44,000 miles. The only real issue I have had is with the backup camera. It was intermittent and GM replaced the whole Nav system. A few firmware updates etc. It is still randomly acting up but I have learned to live with it. Other than that the truck has exceeded my expectations in every way.
