Being a 1995, you may need to flush out your cooling system to get your coolant to flow 100% through out your system. If your coolant have not been regularly replaced, deposits will accumulate through out your radiator and cooling jackets in your engine causing poor circulation.

Preston had a coolant flush that is recommended by GM to flush out the system when servicing the cooling system. At worst, you may have to replace the radiator if it's too far gone to be flushed out. The other thing you may want to also is run your Dex-cool mixture to 40/50 coolant/water. Water has a better heat transfer then the coolant, but you need to keep an eye on your coolant level more often. The water will evaporate much quicker than the coolant and too much water will cause your coolant to boil over, Note that too much Dex-cool will jell up when it gets hot causing poor coolant flow through out your cooling system also.

Start with the simple and flush out your cooling system first and replace your thermostat. Try running more water then coolant not more then 40/60 mix coolant/water and at worst, your going to have to replace the radiator if it's to far gone to be flushed out.
