GMC Jimmy engine question?

does anyone know why GMC put a less powerful engine in the Jimmy after 1995? i checked up the specs of this truck and the first year of the second generation of the jimmy (1995) has a more powerful engine than the '96 and onwards. does anyone know why? thanks

They changed the Cam specs to the 4.3 Vortec between the 95 and 96, but you gain much more torque in 96 which is what you need. So long story short, the 96 is a much better engine and the change of the CPI to the CSFI also had to do a lot of the 10 HP drop.

distributor replacement ???

Hi i have a jimmy ' 97 and i need to change my distributor , i want to know if i need to remove the upper intake manifold... as you can see on this link ( around the middle of the page, juste before removing the distributor ) :
