My speedometer quit working around 78,000 miles (GMC Sierra 2005 from local truck dealer center). Slowly but surely all my other gauges have quit working over time. The RPM gauge, speedometer, oil temp, and gas gauge. Only one works now. The rest either don't work or fluctuate back and forth. I would have reported this earlier if I knew about this site. It's not the first complaint so there is something up with these models. They should be recalled and fixed by the dealers. I won't ever buy another GMC vehicle. That's for sure.

GM did an extended warranty for the known instrument cluster issues, I don't recall exactly how long or how many additional miles it covered the instrument cluster for. My 2003 was beyond that point. I sent my instrument cluster to AutoXpressTech (autoxpresstech.com for info) and they repaired all my issues (tachometer and temp gauge) and sent it back to me, overnight delivery, for $99. That was a few years ago, but they did a good job and even cleaned / polished the lens for the cluster. You have to take it out and send it to them, but one additional benefit is you don't have to get the cluster programmed to indicate proper mileage. Certainly something to consider.
