Hey, i have a 2001 GMC sierra 2500hd and for the past week or so my coolant temperature has been rising quickly while i am stopped and idling for more than 10 seconds. I already changed the thermostat...and then 1the entire water pump with the thermostat. the coolant is toped up as well. does anyone know what the problem could be? thank you

Check your radiator cooling fan clutch to ensue that it's working. http://www.theautochannel.com/autop...mc/sierra_2500_hd-2001-radiators-g313702.html A bad fan clutch will not work and pull enough air through the radiator in stop and go traffic.

Good luck and keep us posted, you can check the fan clutch by spinning the fan clutch with the engine off. There should be resistance and if there is no resistance. Replace the fan clutch, good luck and you will need to use a fan clutch tool to remove it from the water pump.
