My 92 GMC Sierra keeps dieing on me recently. When the gas pedal is pressed down it runs fine, but when I stop at a light or to make a turn it sputters and dies. If I'm able to press the gas while it sputters, it catches and runs fine. Im not very savy with vehicles so it could be something simple. All answers are welcome. Thanks

If the vehicle has fuel injection, then the injectors may be dirty. The engine is not getting enough fuel to keep running without depressing the throttle. Replace the air and fuel filters. If it is fuel injection, run a couple of cans of injector cleaner through the system. If this doesn't solve the problem, then have the fuel pump and the timing checked. If it is a carburetor powered engine, then the carburetor may be dirty. Clean it up and make sure the mixer flap (blanking on the proper name) is moving freely.

IAC (Idle Air Control) valve is not working correctly. This is located on the throttle body. 9 out of 10 it is the IAC causing a high/low/no idle condition.

Im having a very similar problem with my truck.. It is an 04 sierra single cab long bed, its the 5.3, and it has cold air intake, an aftermarket mass air flow sensor (jet performance products) and i have a throttle body spacer, The MAF and the TBS was already on when i bought the truck.. The problem is very similar but if i let it run for a good 5 to 10 mins it runs just fine, and youd never know there was a problem... But if i get in and let it run for less and drive down the road and go to stop or turn or slow down my truck shuts off.. also if i start it and its warm outside and have my A/C on when i start it the rpms jump up and down rapidly, but if it runs for a the five mins then turn it on it seems fine.. Same thing when its cold out and with the heater..
