I have a 2000 gmc sierra with a 5.3. When you first start it up cold it hesitates on acceleration bad and has no power. After it runs for about a minute it runs great. I was told it was MAF Sensor. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have the Sierra scanned for any DTC codes, it almost sounds like your electronic EGR valve is sticking upon start up which is causing you to have poor performance until the valve closes 100%. Start with that and see about trying to clean your EGR valve also and see if that helps.

Keep us posted and be safe.

I have the exact same problem. I plugged in a code reader and my plug is dead. I tried the reader on another vehicle and it worked , so it is my OBDII plug that dosen't work.

When I first start the truck it seems to choke itself out for the first minute or so and then it just seems to "grab" and runs fine. Did you have any luck fixing this problem. I don't want to take it to a garage and get hooped for an easy fix.
