I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 HD with a 6.0 engine. I tried to start it & it won't do anything. I have a new battery. Starter fuse is good. Any ideas ?
Something may not be telling the starter that its in park. I wantg to say jiggle the shift lever. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the switch on the transmission.
I tried everything like moving the shift lever. I went out there today & it started right up. I have no idea what the problem was but its ok now. Thanks for the replies.

I am glad to hear that your Sierra started right up today. If you plan on taking your vehicle into a GMC dealership the next time that this concern happens, please feel free to private message me and I would be happy to assist you in setting up an appointment. I will be on the lookout for your future updates.
I had this same intermittent problem until if finally quit starting at all. It turned out to be a bad connection at the ecm; specifically at the ign terminal. Mine was on the top connector to the ecm it was a pink wire in the #9 pin. Had to replace the pin terminal in the plug for that hole.
