GMC Sierra outisde temperature

Hello,
I purchased my truck this past October and really enjoy it. My friend at work has almost the same truck with a few more goodies on it. Mine does not have the outside temperature on the dash, but when I start it up on a cold day, it says "ICE POSSIBLE DRIVE CAREFULLY" My friend says that I do have the equipment for the outside temperature, but it is not showing up on my dash. Is there anyway to get this activated at the dealership so it will show up? Isn't the computer on a truck like your home computer that when you upgrade it, you get some new features? I have asked a couple of salesmen and they all say NO. Any help would be great.

The temp sensor is behind the grill, if you can see it with the wiring, you will need this feature programed using a factory scan tool.

Hi Molson,
I just checked my truck and there is sensor strapped to the rib or support bracket in front of the rad. Kind of looks like a small lighter. Do you think this would be it?

I have an 07 sierra and mine is also on the mirror. there is a power button on the onstar panel that turns my mirror off and on.
