GMC SIERRA-wont go into R from P?

What year Sierra, regardless. Your shifter linkage needs to be re-aligned or repaired. It sounds like your shifter interlock was still activated when you tried to shift from park to drive and your linkages now are disconnected and need to be reconnected. Most likely the linkage that has been disconnected will be at the steering column.
