I have a 1998 gmc sonoma 4.3 V6. My manual says to gap it to 0.045 but autozone says to gap it to 0.060. Does the gap vary by plug brands or should I just gap it to what the manual says? I bought NGK platinum plugs. I have heard that these plugs are the same as acdelco. The plugs that I took out were autolites and were gaped to 0.065 and they were fouled and was also running awful. Please help I am working on it right now as I type. LOL.

I put it in the Chevrolet category since the Sonoma is the same as the s10.

It does vary by plug brands! I found this out last week when I changed my plugs and gapped them to what the owners manual said to use, then had to regap back down when my engine started misfiring. I would try and call the manufacturer of the plugs, or talk to the guys at Autozone.

To be safe, go with the lower of the two gaps and if you are getting a misfire, regap to what the manual says.

0.045 is the correct plug gaps and the best to use is the A/Cdelco. I my self uses the http://www.accel-ignition.com/Produ...jID=595&minID=5951&selection=9&minselection=0 to keep all the parts matched up and it seams to run fine on my Jimmy.

Good luck and follow the sticker on the fan shroud that the manufacturer put for you to follow for that engine you have. It's the factory spec for the set up to your engine. ;)
